Patricia Chunn McCormick, age 87, passed away on March 2, 2024, in Suwanee, Georgia. Born on October 23, 1936, in Jackson, Mississippi, to the late Ervin and Louise Chunn, Patricia’s life was a testament to love, faith, and creativity. Patricia earned her Bachelor’s degree in religion from Millsaps College in Jackson, Mississippi. A devoted pastor’s wife, she played a vital role in the churches they served, working tirelessly behind the scenes. Her husband’s pastoral journey led them to various states, creating rich experiences in Mississippi, Arizona, California, and finally, Georgia.
Not only a dedicated partner for 67 years, Patricia was also an accomplished and talented painter as well as an extraordinary gardener. Her artistic creations will be cherished by generations to come, a lasting legacy of her creative spirit. Spending time with her children and grandchildren was one of the greatest joys of Patricia’s life.
Patricia was an outgoing and compassionate soul, making everyone she met feel loved and valued. Her attention to people’s needs and warm presence left an indelible mark on the hearts of those fortunate enough to know her. Instrumental in organizing numerous church pilgrimages to Israel, Greece and Italy, Patricia’s passion for travel and spirituality was evident in every step of these meaningful journeys.
Survived by her loving husband, Dr. Jim McCormick, Patricia is also mourned by her children, Mark McCormick (Katherine) and Lynne Searfoss (Matt). She will be dearly missed by her grandchildren, Grace Frye (Tim), Trey Williams, Megan Searfoss and Madelyn Searfoss. Patricia is also survived by her brother, Bob Chunn (Jeannie) and sister-in-law, Frances Chunn. Patricia was preceded in death by her siblings, Marianne Jenkins (Howard) and Don Chunn.
A celebration of Patricia’s life will be held on Sunday, March 10, 2024 at 2:30 pm at
H.M. Patterson & Son Arlington Chapel, 173 Allen Rd NE, Sandy Springs, GA 30328. Visitation will begin at 1:30.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to be made to the charity of your choice, honoring Patricia’s commitment to faith and service to others. May her memory live on in the hearts of those she touched, and may she rest in eternal peace.
