Mable Heft was born on the outskirts of Wichita, Kansas in April, 1937. Born to Stella Levesta Hockett and Clearance Earl Royal, she was the youngest of four children. Mable graduated from North High School in 1955. In her senior year of high school she worked as a switchboard operator which led her to a 26 year career at Southwestern Bell. She also served many years at KG&E.
Mable loved gardening, needlepoint, and going to dances with her husband, Jack. She considered building the family home with Jack in 1965 as one of her proudest moments and she enjoyed the process of picking out wallpaper, light fixtures, and decorating. She was very active in her church and was a beloved neighbor to her community.
She is preceded in death by: her parents; her siblings; and her husband, Jack Heft.
She is survived by: her son, Kent Royal; her three step-daughters, Janet, Jill, & Julie; her 8 grandchildren and 19 great-grandchildren.
Funeral service will be held 1:00 p.m. on Thursday, March 7, 2024, at Riverside Christian Church, 1001 Litchfield North, Wichita, Kansas, with Dr. Robin McGonigle officiating. Graveside service will follow at 3:00 p.m. following the funeral service at Resthaven Gardens of Memory, in the Garden of Bruce Newton, 11800 West Highway 54, Wichita, Kansas.
