in Houston Texas March 23rd, 1943.
Gary is survived by his loving wife Sobeyda (Sophie) Allen and his son Michael Trevino-Allen.
Gary was preceded in death by Norris Allen, father, Lula Allen, mother and Don Allen, brother.
He was raised in Houston by his father Norris Allen and mother Lula Allen.
Gary graduated from Reagan High School where he loved to play bass clarinet in the marching
band. After graduating high school Gary worked for the US postal service as well as attending
the University of Houston graduating with a bachelor degree of science in accounting.
Gary and Sophie were married for 50 loving years together. They loved to travel and dance
together at social events and at home. They were inseparable.
Gary loved his son Michael and was proud watching and guiding him as he grew into an adult.
Gary was a loyal and dependable worker in his field of accounting. He worked for many
different companies throughout his career. His final job before retiring was his most fulfilling
with the Houston Independent School District.
Playing baseball, golf, and bowling was a passion of Gary’s. His love of life was evident. He
loved playing golf with his son and bowling in leagues with his wife, family and friends.
Gary also volunteered in his community. He enjoyed giving his free time working in his church
along side Sophie at the Clothing Room. He also enjoyed volunteering at the the Berry Center
for athletic and music events.
Gary loved living in Houston. He also loved his Houston Astros. Growing up Gary played 2nd
base as a teenager. Some of his happiest moments in retirement was going with Sophie to
watch the Astros play at Minute Maid Park. When Gary was eventually home bound his most
cherished moments were watching the Astros at home with Sophie and Michael. He was filled
with so much joy when his Astros won the World Series.
