Emma Mary Simon DeVille, was born on March 13, 1935 in Beaver Creek, LA to Marshall and Lessie Simon. She was the third child and eldest daughter of six siblings. Emma was a devoted wife of 53 years to Ramsey J. DeVille until his death.
Emma settled into becoming a house- wife on January 6, 1957 and after almost five years of marriage the couple welcomed Rebecca Ann Walker, Lessie DeVille-Joubert, Wyman DeVille, Ramsey M. (Colleen)DeVille, Mary J. DeVille and Amanda DeVille (Shun)Hartley.
Known for her compassionate heart, Emma dedicated her life to her husband, children, grandchildren, church family and anyone in need. She was an active member of Sacred Heart of Jesus Catholic Church serving as a Lay Minister, Usher, as well as a member of the Bingo Committee, Fair Committee, Popcorn ball Committee, Bereavement Committee, Pie Committee and Boudin Committee.
She is survived by two sons, Wyman and Ramsey; two daughters, Lessie and Amanda; 14 grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; and one sister, Nancy Simon Thibodeaux along with a host of nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Ramsey; daughters, Rebecca Ann and Mary Jane; granddaughter, Danielle N. Walker; father; mother; infant brother; brothers, Adam and Amos (her twin); and sister, Lucille Victorian.
Together, she and Ramsey gifted their children with laughter, memories, happiness, love and family.
As a mother, she taught her children to pray about all things. She departed this life peacefully knowing that she had plugged her children into her source of strength, her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.
The family will welcome relatives and friends at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Lake Charles on Friday, March 8, 2024 beginning at 9:30 a.m. with a Mass of Christian Burial to be held at 11:00 a.m. Burial will follow at Sacred Heart Catholic Cemetery.
