Ike was born on May 11, 1939, in LaGrange, Georgia, to Charles and Sybil Eichelberger. He graduated from LaGrange High School, attended LaGrange College and Pensacola Junior College.
Ike married the love of his life and soulmate, Jo Eichelberger, in 1960 and they shared 63 memorable years together.
Ike worked at Monsanto as a microscopist and retired from Gulf Power as a warehouseman.
Ike was preceded in death by his parents, his father and mother-in-law, Morris and Dorothy Traylor, and his older brother, Lt.Gen. Charles B. Eichelberger.
He is survived by his loving wife, Jo; his son and daughter-in-law, Jon and Rachel Eichelberger, of Winter Springs, Florida; his grandchildren, Kalee, of Orlando, Florida; his grandson and granddaughter-in-law, Kobe and Madeline, and his great granddaughter, Adley, of Charleston, South Carolina; Kendra, of St. Petersburg, Florida; his brother and sister-in-law, Marc and Kathy Eichelberger, of Monroe, Louisiana; his sister-in-law, Kay Epling, of Stanardsville, Virginia; his sister-in-law, Jackie Eichelberger, of Sachse, Texas; nieces and nephews.
Services for Ike will be held on Saturday, March 9, 2024, 11:00 AM, at Oak Lawn Funeral Home. Visitation will be at 10:30 AM, before the services. Rev. Ron Lentine and Rev. Marc Eichelberger will officiate.
The family expresses special thanks to the medical staff of Select Specialty Hospital who assisted Ike during his recent illness. He received the very best care and attention in his last days.
