Betty was born March 7, 1945 in El Dorado, AR to Bill A. Sanders and Ouida Grace King Sanders. During her lifetime she worked as a bookkeeper for Jimmy Goad Builders, Exchange Bank, Benny Cox, CPA, Health Systems Agency and Boy Scouts of America.
While public life and politics were not particularly appealing to her, she nonetheless stepped up to the plate and was Mike’s backbone in his many roles as a public servant. Betty was a member of First Presbyterian Church.
Preceding her in death are her parents; her brother, Billy Mark Sanders; and a niece, Denise Sanders Cameron.
Survived by her husband, Mike W. Dumas of El Dorado; her son, David M. Dumas of Vicksburg, MS; her sister-in-law, Charlene Sanders of El Dorado and numerous nieces and nephews.
The family expresses their deepest gratitude to Aileen Smith, a true angel from God, whose love, care and support helped both Betty and the family through the ravages of dementia.
Visitation will be held Friday, March 8, 2024 at First Presbyterian Church from 1:00-2:00 p.m. prior to the service. A memorial service will start at 2:00 p.m. with Rev. Janice West officiating. A private family burial will follow at Ebenezer Presbyterian Cemetery under the direction of Young’s Funeral Directors.
